Early Intervention

  • Reimagine Australia - formerly known as Early Childhood Intervention Australia (ECIA), has been the leading Australian body for early childhood outcomes for young children with a developmental delay or a disability and their families, since 1986. Reimagine Australia’s purpose is to ensure that children with disability and/or developmental delay, and their families, have every opportunity to reach their potential in life.
  • An ECIA Guide - for families to assist the inclusion of young children with disability into community life in Western Australia

​Family + Caregiver Support

  •  Developmental Disability WA (DDWA) Knowledge Hub  - resources, information, referral, advocacy, and training, to assist those with developmental disabilities to live fulfilling and independent lives.
  • Perth Kids Hub - Created by a Perth Mum to empower families in the search for support for their child’s development or mental health. This   serves as your ultimate guide, connecting you with Perth’s paediatricians, therapists, educators, inclusive schools and activities.
  • Kindship app - Kindship is a free social networking app for parents raising children with disabilities, delays, and neurodivergence. Build friendships, find support, and learn from like-minded families on similar journeys.
  • Siblings Australia - is a unique national organisation promoting better support for siblings of children and adults with disability. Evidence has shown that siblings may struggle with their identity in childhood, and be at higher risk of depression, anxiety and relationship difficulties as they approach adulthood. Siblings Australia aim to ensure siblings are acknowledged and connected to support, their sibling, and their family; ensuring better outcomes for families.
  • Wonder Moms Blog - a lovely website with many helpful posts and links to resources for parents of children with a disability.
  • The Achievable Hub - resources, workshops/webinars, and information to assist parents and caregivers to develop and increase their skills and capacity to manage their child's NDIS plan and supports effectively. *paid subscription required*

Neurodivergent Specific

  • Autism Parents’ Handbook -  a book to help parents of autistic children, prior to or following diagnosis. 
  • A National Guideline for the Assessment and Diagnosis of Autism in Australia - For parents and caregivers of children undergoing an Autism assessment.
  • A National Guideline For Supporting the Learning, Participation, and Wellbeing of Autistic Children and their Families in Australia - guidelines for the safest and most appropriate therapy practices for autistic children and their families, promoting health and wellbeing while minimising harm and encouraging best practices.
  • Autism Connect - a free, national autism helpline, providing independent and expert information over phone, email and webchat.
  • Neurodiversity-Affirming Resources -  a resource list created by Onwards & Upwards Psychology. Learn about neurodiversity, how to be a better ally and lean into supporting your child in an affirming way. 
  • NeuroWild / Emily Hammond - resources to support children and families to better understand their neurotype and advocate for their needs.
  • Flourishing in Education - information for educators around supporting autistic students in schools. 
  • Yellow Ladybugs is a non-government organisation, dedicated to the happiness, success and celebration of autistic girls, women and gender diverse individuals. Yellow Ladybugs provide resources and research, along with useful toolkits created by the YLB team along with the broader neurodivergent community.
  • Supporting Autistic Girls at School This website provides a comprehensive guide to supporting autistic girls at school. It has been developed by Yellow Ladybugs, together with the Department of Education and Training Victoria, and in collaboration with autistic females, parents, teachers, allied health professionals, and academic researchers.

Community Participation

  • WA Rockability Group - not-for-profit organisation that is motivated to increase the meaningful engagement in music, for anybody.  They aim at increasing the opportunities for people to engage in music-groups and with other individuals to increase purpose and well being in their lives. 
  • Cahoots - is a community organisation that provides exciting and rewarding camps for children and young people with a disability. Cahoots creates inclusive opportunities for people living with disability and others that face exceptional challenges to develop friendships, skills and confidence.

Next Challenge acknowledges (ana) Aboriginal, Torres Strait Islander, and First Nations peoples as the Traditional Custodians of Country (Boodja) throughout Australia. We (Ngalak) are committed to honouring, seeing, and understanding (kootadjinong) their unique cultural and spiritual relationships to the land, waterways (bilya), and seas (wardarn). 

​Next Challenge wants to thank and pay respects to the Whadjuk people and Elders, past, present, and emerging, of the Noongar Nation, who have preserved and protected the land (kanana) and waterways (bilya) on which we continue to play (waabiny), live (djooroobidiny), learn (kadadjiny), work, and provide services on today (yey).
