Our Community of Practice - Feeding + Mealtimes Tips

Collated by our therapists, here you will find useful links to external websites, products and services that contain trusted advice in various areas of child feeding and mealtimes.

Please note that any advice accessed via these links is is general in nature and is not professional advice relating to a child’s specific circumstances. If in doubt, seek professional advice.
Community based services
Ability WA have recently started running an Early Mealtime Service (EMS). EMS is a Telethon funded (FREE) service which supports children, under 7 years old, who are experiencing feeding and mealtime challenges.

The EMS’ multidisciplinary team of therapists work with parents and caregivers to identify a child’s individual goals and unique mealtime needs, before developing practical strategies to make mealtimes a fun and positive experience. The team consists of Clinical Leads in Speech Pathology, Occupational Therapy, Dietetics and Social Work.

Next Challenge acknowledges (ana) Aboriginal, Torres Strait Islander, and First Nations peoples as the Traditional Custodians of Country (Boodja) throughout Australia. We (Ngalak) are committed to honouring, seeing, and understanding (kootadjinong) their unique cultural and spiritual relationships to the land, waterways (bilya), and seas (wardarn).

Next Challenge wants to thank and pay respects to the Whadjuk people and Elders, past, present, and emerging, of the Noongar Nation, who have preserved and protected the land (kanana) and waterways (bilya) on which we continue to play (waabiny), live (djooroobidiny), learn (kadadjiny), work, and provide services on today (yey).
